Important Information

  • Accepted fellows will be expected to attend virtual sessions to have active discussions with one another, complete activities between the sessions, and engage with speakers. This is important for each participant to fully benefit from a community of mutual learning. We recognize people have different circumstances and outside responsibilities and we commit to being flexible and equitable in participation expectations, however, a minimum level of attendance and engagement in the virtual activities is necessary to benefit meaningfully from the program and receive a certificate.

  • In July, South-North Scholars will host a global virtual youth forum in conjunction with the UNDP’s Human Development Report Office. Room for Peace Fellows will be considered for (and supported to prepare for) a panelist role at the TogetHDR Youth Forum. We will choose panelists from among RFP participants who demonstrate outstanding engagement.

More FAQs

  • Participants are selected based on their demonstrated commitment to peacebuilding, involvement in community initiatives, and their potential to contribute to and benefit from the program. Specific criteria include geographic diversity within Southeast Asia, active engagement in peace-related projects, and potential for leadership in their communities.

What we want to see in your application is your ability to express your cause and your methodology, just like you would be doing in the course of the program. We want this fellowship to be as collaborative as possible, and thus we look for active participants.

  • Participants will continue relationships with their mentors for as long as they would like, and are invited to reach out to other mentors, as well. Post-fellowship reunions, the one-on-one mentorship relationship, and the program’s exclusive LinkedIn Group will provide long term benefit from the program.

Room for Peace aims to create a network of young leaders committed to ongoing collaboration and peacebuilding initiatives.

  • Yes, participants who successfully complete all program requirements, including active engagement in workshops and activities, will receive a certificate of completion from South-North Scholars.
